As we have spent the past three days studying the Egyptian Pyramids and educating ourselves on the issue, each of us is ready to take a stand: vote for what you think. Were the Egyptian Pyramids necessary or not? Let's see what KnowStrengthers think!

p2 Sam- The pyramids were unnessesary because all they were was a big tomb. You wouldnt need 6 million tons of stone to make a proper tomb.
ReplyDeletep2- Alaina The Pyramids were not necassary because the building required much hard labor. Also it was very large- and was robbed anyway. The King could've just had a simple burying for much less time and money.

ReplyDeletep2 Will Howes - The pyramids were unnecessary because although it was a really big accomplishment making them, they really are only big graves for one person. I mean, if you were gonna spend all that time making a humungous grave, you should at least put more than one person inside.
ReplyDeleteP2- Andrew i think the pyrimids were not nessary becaue people died because they were working on the pyrimid. Sure there were doctors and they helped out but still people were hurt doing that just to bury 1 man and some gold in it.
ReplyDeletep2 lauren kelly- no they were not necessary. some people who work on the pyramid were buried with their family in a very small chamber unlike the pharoh who was buried in a mansion all by himself.

ReplyDeleteI am Max from period 2, and I think that they were not neccesary. The Pyramids of Giza required thousands of people at a time to labor at huge tasks, moving thousands of pounds of stone constantly. It was built for the pharoh and for him to be buried in peace, but he robbed wealth from the people and made many of his loyal citizens nearly slaves for his own enjoyment. It may have been the standard 4000, 5000 years ago, but today it would be considered a violation of worker's rights and inhumane treatment; in both eras, it is unneccesary.
ReplyDeletep2 Gracee I think the pyramids were not necessary because if they buried King Tut in the side of a cliff then why couldn't they bury the other kings in the side of a cliff also? The whole pyramid weighed about 5,750,000 tons. Thats ridonkulous.
ReplyDeleteP2-Peter-I think the pyrmids were not necessary. I believe this because although they are really big and monsterous monuaments now, they took lots and lots of man labor. Plus they took thousands of men away from their families mabye forever. They could have just buried their kings in a cliff or dump them in the ocean with all their valuables. Then it wouldn't all be raided like it is now.

ReplyDeletep2-Calvin-I think that the pyramids were not nesesary because in the prosense of building a pyramid many people died and the king didnt have to been barried in the worlds lagest stuctutre of there time they could have been baried in the ground like every one else or in a tomb.
ReplyDeletep2- Emily Klaudt- i did not think they were not necessary they took away members of people family's they also hurt people backs, legs/knees,arms,necks... plus the pharoh got this big thing that stood really tall but some people got put in to the sand.

p2 Easton- I think the pyramids were necessary because kings deserve more than average. Also because the people who built were treated better there than where they lived.

I mean, really, besides the Pharoh, who would chip away at a million two-ton blocks and stack them together until they reached 45 stories high and took up 7 blocks around the base? then bury a body in it? then put all your belongings in with the dead Pharoh? Unecessary, to say at the least.

I don't think they were not necessary because they had to walk half-a-mile to get to the pyramids from the quarries with 2.5 tons of limestone. Acient egyptions risked their lives just to help build a pyramid for one person. Thieves stole the gems and riches the ancient egyptions buried with king almost right after he died.
